Why is it that only in USA we say soccer instead of football?

  • well baseball u hit the ball and run bases right? Soccer is called Football in most all other countries because you use your feet right? Why is English so dang complicated man...here's another example, the word read, red and read spelled the same pronounced differently. I will read a book today and will tell you I read it yesterday tomorrow. My shoes are red! How about their, they're and there! JEEEEEEEEEZE!!! No wonder so many Mexicans just get out of it just by saying "I no speaka english!"

  • Because in the US there is already a pro sport called Football.

  • Your sentence doesn't make any sense. I will read a book today and will tell you I read it yesterday tomorrow. That is pronounced, I will read (reed) a book today and will tell you I read (red) it yesterday tomorrow. Therefore, your three example words are not pronounced the same. Why don't you actually learn the English language before criticizing it?

And there was already the sport football.
