I was wondering if someone could tell me what the symptoms and causes of brain tumors are and if there are any treatments. Someone had told me that they have a brain tumor that is terminal and it cannot be treated because it had gone unnoticed for about 5 years and since it has grown with their brain, it cannot be removed by a surgery and it cannot be treated. Is it really possible that there is no treatment at all?absolutely, my mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor (glioma) and died within 3 months after the beginning of her symptoms, she had no previous symtoms.
treatments were not recommended due to the position and size of the tumor, it's sad.A tumor is a pretty general thing. "A tumor...is the name for a swelling or lesion formed by an abnormal growth of cells"[wiki:tumor]. Such growths are especially serious in the brain, because they can do damage not only through their biological properties (how it will spread) but also through their physical properties (the force the exert on the brain). Benign tumors no longer spread, malign tumors are cancerous.
Treatment for brain tumors includes surgical options (remove it) as well as radiation and chemotherapy. Surgery is not always possible, as the tumor may be buried to close to crucial parts of the brain. The more a tumor has spread the lower the chances of successful surgical removal.
With all forms of cancer, early detection provides by far the most positive outcome.I found out that I had a benign tumor 3 years ago when I was 16 years old. My symptoms were seizures that consisted of an overwhelming de ja vu feeling (common w/ temporal lobe tumors) and then I would throw up. I had these symptoms for at least 3 years before I found out I had a tumor. At first I only had these seizures once or twice a year but then I had them up to 7 times in one day! The tumor had grown, which caused te seizures to become more frequent. They believe I had been born with the tumor but are not positive. Since it was benign, my neuro surgeon told me that if it had not been found I would just continue to have the seizures more frequently but the tumor could not turn cancerous. I was able to have mine successfully removed and have been seizure free ever since.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
