Is the driving age really going to be changed?

i dont think that they should change the age for driving, not every teen is a recklass driver. so why should we be blamed for what other people have done. why change it becouse of other maniac drivers that dont pay enough attention to the road? True. Many folks are saying that the age should be raised to 18 at a minimum. I don't agree. I got my license when I was 16 & I have never been in an accident. I've had a bump or two, but I didn't cause them. I drive a semi for a living & there are maniacs out there for sure. If anything, we need to make law breakers punishment more severe. If you get caught driving on a suspended license, add a year to that. No insurance? Make the penalty $5K. No valid plates? $1K first offense and then multiply it for every offense beyond that. Maybe if we hit people in the finances for their incompetence, they'll want to ride the bus instead.
  • I think they should just make the test tougher and more realistic. Plenty of people drive ok at 16, some never learn how to at all! I also think they should make license renewal every 5 years with a retest each time so people would be forced to unlearn their bad driving habits
  • it could change. it wouldn't be all bad if they did change it, but also there would be bad parts of it, and you're right not all teenagers are bad drivers, but its the bad apples that spoil the bunch as far as the law is concerned. some are talking of just allowing driving between home and school for teens. it also depends on the state you live in.
