Image Gallery integration

March 12th, 2010
  • I'm looking at vBulletin and Invision.

I like that they have an integrated image gallery option so the look is the same and you don't have to register again to use the image gallery.

How hard would it be (for a non-programmer) to integrate CopperMine into vBulletin so it appeared in the menu and used the same user database.

This seems like something you would want to offer as a module. How come you don't?

    thanks

  • Unfortunately, vBAdvanced Gallery, which was the integrated photo gallery that worked with and looked exactly like vBulletin and was most closely integrated with it has been gobbled up by a competitor has apparently taken it off the market (I find no way to buy or download it at the new website). If it's really gone forever, then I think it was an unwise decision on Jelsoft's part not to purchase it.

Although great strides have been made in getting Coppermine to communicate with vBulletin, it will always look different and have differences in how users and usergroups are handled.

Maybe some day someone will produce a photo gallery that is integrated with vBulletin as well as vBAdvanced was.

  • Menalto Gallery and Coppermine are free galleries that can be 'bridged' with vBulletin.

But to get the level of integration in your example, you need vBAdvanced Gallery which was recently bought out/acquired by PhotoPost.com.

  • Until they stop listing it on their website, and assuming they haven't modified the code significantly since it was available at vBAdvanced, yeah it integrates GREAT with vBulletin.

I bought my copy of vbGallery about 1 year ago and never installed it. Hopefully I can figure out how to install it.

  • so is that free? or paid?

  • Looks like a Branding Free vBAdvanced.

  • I have a problem buying a product from someone who acquired it under less than transparent circumstances.

even though you have a problem with the business transaction, vBAdvanced Gallery works well with vBulletin still?

  • this gallery used here:

what would you guys say this was?

  • You should pose that question to CopperMine? I believe they can get a developers version if they want this to happen?

  • vBAdvanced Gallery is $59. It was gobbled up by PhotoPost who has yet to set up a Buy Now/Purchase page.

You can buy vBAdvanced Gallery here (http://www.photopost.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121701).

  • There are a few galleries available commerically from third parties that offer different levels of intergration with vbulletin.

Over at vbulletin.org you can also find (for free)
    - A gallery mod for vbulletin
    - A bridge file to integrate the users in coppermine and vb
    - some type of integration mod for menalto gallery.

  • ah I see! Secondly how you install? Lots of file editing?

  • Thats a pre-sales question for photopost but no, I dont think you need to edit any of vbulletin's core code.
