Does anyone have "Mike Ditka's Kick A$$ Chili recipe? If so, can you please post?

  • My friend had the recipe however cannot locate it. She said it is very good chili. I want to make some for Sunday Football.

    Simply Sportinâ ™ Chili

    Ingredients:
    1/4 cup oil
    3 cups chopped onions
    1 1/2 cups finely chopped green peppers
    3 lbs. ground beef
    3 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
    3/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    6 tablespoons chili powder
    1 tablespoon crushed oregano
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 teaspoon celery salt
    1/4 cup red wine
    1 35 oz. can tomatoes
    1 basil leaf
    1 cup water
    salt and freshly ground pepper
    1 tablespoon chili paste with garlic optional



    Directions:
    Put oil in large deep casserole or Dutch oven and heat.

    Add onions and green peppers. Cook until onions are wilted. Add the meat. Using a heavy spoon, cook, chopping down with the spoon to break up lumps of the meat. Add the garlic and pepper and stir to blend. Add the chili powder, oregano, cumin, and celery salt. Stir and add the wine. Add the tomatoes, water, salt, pepper, and, if desired, chili paste with garlic.

    Bring to a boil, cook over low heat for about thirty minutes.

    Serves 8 to 10. Keep warm in a crock pot.
