Do I need PHP & MySQL

  • Okay, i have been looking into this software for about a month now and am 99% sure im making the purchase... totally worth the Duckets. SO, im wondering if i need the PHP & MySQL on my local machine to do the editing/customising of the forum. I will be using a WebHost for my site and forum that has PHP/MySQL support but i dont want to have to install it locally as well...:confused:

    No need to install locally too .. when our webspace has PHP and MySQL you are ready to go :)

    Everybody with an internetbrowser can view the forums then (IE, FF, Opera, etc. etc.)

    Customizing the forum will be done mostly throught the browser too unless you need extra files but then an ftp client is all you need .. (maybe also a text editor IF you need to change files which is not necessary though)


  • Thank you all for the responses! I am in the process of switching my host from Yahoo! to vizaweb so that i can have VB run correctly...
    Im sure i will 'see' you all again as i will most likely need further assistance!

    A tip for localhost home computer users: ApacheFriends.org run XAMPP for Windows/Linux/Mac that has precompiled a running setup for apache/php/mysql so you can test it localhost. Note: As a security meassure they do not allow outside users to browse the localhost.
