» Pentax k100d questions

Hey guys. I just got a pentax k100d, and was really excited about it. But after using it and reading it. I realized i had a few questions. I was wondering how you can tell the difference between the k100d and the k100d super. Because I'm not sure if I have the super, or normal. Next thing. I thought I read somewhere that my camera can only handle certain large f stops. like f1.4 might be to large for my camera. anyone know if there are limits to my DSLR?I am not sure about you first question.but as to f/stops being too large for your camera I am 99% this is not the case. the lowest numerical f/stop (how wide open the aperture can open) is determined by the lensGoogle works good for stuff like that. I found this: http://a.img-dpreview.com...... - 2010-02-07

» Who decides what is considered an illness (mental)?

i mean its not like cancer, people dont really die because their mentally ill so how do their know if its an illness or not?To a large extent it's a matter of the current fashion in the psychology/psychiatry profession. When they thought homosexuality was a deviation everyone believed them. When they thought there was a cure too. Just remember that no-one seriously believes there is a psyche so, strictly speaking those professions have a non-subject and most of their evidence is statistical! Then have the strength to make up your own mind. Unfortunately that seems to be decided by drug companies that make billions annually selling the latest 'fad' antidepressant or mood suppressor drug to the public, and their thirty s...... - 2010-02-07

» If a police dog handler in the uk captures a illegal dog like a pit Bull what do they do with it?

Sell it to the Pikeys.Dog handlers in the Police don't tend to 'capture' other dogs. There are too many risks of infection to the working dog (which are much more important than actual people in the job!) The local authority are the responsible agency. 687SPV - Crap. Firearms Officers don't shoot at animals running around in public, for fairly obvious reasons. They would only be required to destroy an animal where it is contained and there is no other reasonable means of dealing with it. A vet is always the first consideration. Also, a taser would be useless unless the dog was very, very large as the separation of the barbs would be too great and probably miss. Result; very angry, very, very big dog.If the dog i...... - 2010-02-07

» Is there a trick to putting the front brake pads and springs back in a 2003 ford f250?

They should slide from the outside in back into the caliper mounting bracket. They should be held in place by the anti rattle clips on the tops and bottoms. Then put the v springs back on. It may want to push the pads out of place and make it hard to get the caliper back on. Try to get one side over and then you can hold the other pad in and install the caliper. Be sure to grease the backs of the pads to prevents squealing and grease the caliper guide pins to prevent uneven wear and possible damage. ...... - 2010-02-07

» Search in specific directory ONLY?

Below in this forum is a good thread (and solution) on doing sub-directory specific searches. I have a slightly different problem. I have an an index of a site: http://myintranet/ There's a protected area, http://myintranet/subdirectory/ I need to have a search tool for the main intranet that indexes everything - EXCEPT the subdirectory (it's important that stuff stay away from prying eyes). At the same time, I want to have a search for the subdirectory that searches ONLY that subdirectory. I can see how to do the latter, but not the former. Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance. I was in a hurry to get that Kodak thing cleared up. The others may still be asleep for a while Jack so I've followed the link you put up and it has all that I need to know. Thanks for that. I offered $10 for that so for a $10.00 give me one or two tips for speeding up my laptop. Thanks Jack from RogerI typed my question in a hurry Jack, it should have said for a $10.00 tip! Want to know who performs the music in the new Georgio Armani cologne commercial. Synth/techno sounding...etc.At least one of the Armani cologne commercials uses a song called "Strict Machine," by Goldfrapp. You can listen to a clip here (the fourth song): http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=3096122 Please let me know if this is the song you're looking for.Unfortunately the song mentioned is not the one that I am looking for... the Georgio Armani commercial is the one airing right now across the U.S., male and female model with the product superimposed. I'm so hungry!!! Everytime I eat I have diarrhea that last up to 8 hours, I would just like to eat some pizza or some chinese. How long do I still have? It started on tuesdayYou might want to use the BRAT diet -- Bananas, plain steamed Rice, Applesauce and dry Toast until your stools have been more solid and more formed for 24 hours before reintroducing your regular diet. You can substitute and/or alternate rice with mashed potatoes. Keep up fluid intake, 2-3 liters a day. I can't tell you how long you'll have diarrhea. I don't know what's causing it. » origin of quotation

I am curious about the origin of this quotation: If you love something, set it free... if it comes back, it's yours.... if it doesn't, it never was.I suspect that this is one of those ubiquitous quotes whose true source may never be found. Attributions are wide and varied. I know the quote is at least four decades old; it appeared on a poster that was popular during my college days in the 1960s, attributed to "Author Anonymous." That guy sure wrote a lot of stuff. ;-) There are many variants. Here's my favorite: "If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it is yours... If it doesn't, it was never meant to be. But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, watches your TV, eats yo...... - 2010-02-07

...TEST...............The Unity of Ideals and Practice by Murray Bookchin Recently I have begun to encounter, especially among young people, individuals who call themselves "leftists" but who have little or no awareness of the most basic features of the Left's longstanding analysis of capitalism, or of the history of the revolutionary movements that have stood in fundamental opposition to bourgeois society. It distresses me that the ideological contours that have long defined capitalism and the Left are being forgotten today, as well as the most critical insights of libertarian socialism and revolutionary anarchism. Given this spreading social amnesia, I find that before I can summarize my political and social ideals, I must briefly ou...... - 2010-02-07

ThanksI went to a party, and remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom so I had a sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, the way you said I would, that I didn't drink and drive, though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, and your advice to me was right as the party finally ended, and the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mom something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, "The kid that caused this wreck was drunk," Mom, His voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, as I try hard not to cry. And its time for a change for the D80. I have been reading some reviews about the 55-200Vr, but none of them have really answered my questions. I was hoping those of you who have used/own it can shed some light on this for me. I will be doing some action/sports photos in a month or two. I really want the 18-200 Vr, but am still waiting and saving and figured this might hold me over. 1. I have heard the lens doesnt focus all that fast? Anyone have any experience with this? 2. I've heard that apparently some radical "Christians" eg Ku Klux hate black people, because of something to do with them being sons of Satan or whatever. Please tell me what the story is, please tell me where it is in the bible, and whatever else. Also, even if it is true, by hating blacks, isn't this a sin, because even if all black people were sinners, according to this, aren't true Christians supposed to love everyone, no matter what? Lastly, I'm half black, does this apply to me too, or just full blacks?Christians subjectively choose which parts of the Bible they believe and which parts they don't.Some people in ANY group hate others because of race, religion or whatever. » Film Rewind

I think i may have one problem with my camera. Should the camera picture dial that tells you how many pics you have left go down when you rewind the film? Cuz I was snapping some pictures without film in the camera and it went up. So when I put in my film the dial was already at 8. And when I got to 34 pictures on the dial, I knew the roll had to be done, yet it was still advancing normally. Now the weird thing is, when I rewound my film (pressed the film rewind button and cranked it) it felt it was resisting and when it stopped resisting I assumed that it was done rolling. So I'm pretty sure it was advancing properly. To make sure it was wound ocmpletely I went in a pitch black room and opened up the camera. The roll was all wound up, s...... - 2010-02-07

» Can you solve this Kinematics question? ( part two)?

you drive 132 km/h for a half hour, then drive 60 km/h for an hour and a half. What was your average speed?Well, let's look at it from a basic relation. D=RT. Distance=(Rate)(Time). From the given information we can conclude that the amount of time spent traveling was 2 hours. We can also conclude that in the first half hour, you traveled 66 kilometers, because you were going at a speed of 132 km/h, but for only a half hour. Also, you can find that you traveled 90 kilometers for the rest of the time. So, we know that the total distance traveled was 156 kilometers. We want the rate over this total distance, so we alter the relation to suit our needs. Rate=Distance/Time. Plug in the numbers and get Rate=156/2. The answer is 78km/h. 132km...... - 2010-02-07

I'm doing a research paper on animal rights. For part of the paper I need to cite academic sources. I'm having trouble finding articles on my topic. I need an article from a scientist about or analyzing the book "Next of Kin" by Roger Fouts. Also the same thing on the book "When Elephants Weep" by Jeffrey Masson. If you can only find an article on one of them that is fine, one is better than none. My thesis has to do with utilitarianism and animal rights, any articles that deal with that in the context of either book is a plus.I met Roger Fouts briefly when he lived in Norman, Oklahoma. He's a remarkable man. I couldn't find anything very lengthy for you. Here's a brief and rather negative commentary on "Next o...... - 2010-02-07

» How to fix broken glass on solar panel?

That's usually a special low-iron glass that is more transparent to the frequencies of light that the panel needs. I guess you could replace the glass with regular window glass, and try to seal it with silicone, but it would never be as good as new. Check the warranty on the panel, it may be covered. If it were me, I would try to sell the panel as broken at (say) $1 a watt on craigslist, then get a new panel. Prices should be dropping next year. There are plenty of panels, but with the credit markets frozen, they're not selling as briskly. If you have cash, you can get a good deal....... - 2010-02-07

» Do people who are double jointed have more of a chance of getting arthritis?

I'm 23 and my hands are double jointed. They constantly ache and sometime feel like it's a task to open my hands...mostly my left one (I am right handed.) How old do people usually get arthritis? Usually in their 50's right? could that be my problem or could it be something else like carpal tunnel? Thanks in advance.Yes. I have arthritis and I'm 19. If you are double jointed or have laxed joints it means you most likely have Hyper Mobility Syndrome (which I have too). If you have Hyper Mobility Syndrome you're more prone to joint disorders such as arthritis. If you're having pain you should take to your doctor. There are simple blood tests that can be done to test for inflammation of the joints. ...... - 2010-02-07

» Avian influenza drill frightens Manitoba residents

Food agency's avian influenza drill frightens Manitoba residents for real Canadian Press Friday, November 03, 2006 WINNIPEG (CP) - There are no chickens and the sky isn't falling. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed Friday its officials have been engaged in a mock avian influenza outbreak that has frightened hundreds of residents in southern Manitoba. People living near Steinbach have seen workers in white bio-hazard suits near the community, prompting at least 100 phone calls and e-mails to radio stations as far away as Winnipeg with questions as to what is going on. An official with the food agency in Calgary, who didn't want to be publicly identified, said there is no actual outbreak. But she confirmed the...... - 2010-02-07

» Listservs that would reach men

My organization, a nonprofit that has developed a technique for doing high-quality online dialogues, is launching an international dialogue for men that will examine the connections between ideas about masculinity and the state of the world. We want to get the word out as widely as possible so we can attract a diverse group of men from all over the world. We think a good way to do this would be to find existing listservs that together reach 150,000 people, and contact the people who run those listservs to request that they post a brief invitation. So we would need a list of listservs, sponsoring organizations, approximate number of people they reach, and contact names/email addresses for someone with decision-making capabili...... - 2010-02-07

» Floor furnace won't stay on with pilot lit...?

We lit the pilot light on my floor furnace and it is still lit. My thermostat was then turned on to the highest setting and it didn't kick on. We removed the thermostat and removed all the wiring. We then replaced the wires back onto the thermostat and tightened the screws down on top of them. The furnace miraculously kicked on and worked for about 5 minutes then shut off again, not reaching the temperature that the thermostat was set to. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Does this all mean that I just need a new thermostat? It didn't kick on when the wires were touching each other so I'm not sure that it is the thermostat that is having the problem... PLEASE HELP!! I'm FREEZING!! ;)sounds like you had a good start o...... - 2010-02-07

» Operating system : Linux or Windows ?

How many want to use Linux ? Linux has developed so much that now any one can use it like windows. What I felt is, if you want to learn more of internal details then hang on linux. Ofcourse if you want to play games then go for windows or playstation. A bit difficult to install something in linux but once you succeed then you will like it. Programming in linux is really cool. You can do the same stuff as visual c++ in linux. Drivers you may have problem but now most of them are supported. I think presently most of them have linux and windows installed in their system. One good thing about linux is you can kill a job easily. It is easier to handle system crash. You have most the popular chat messenger for linux. Documentation like Mi...... - 2010-02-07

» Dilemma with my 10 and 7 years olds getting to school?

My kids begin school at 9am- they are able to arrive on school grounds with supervision at 840- no earlier. I began a job that requires my presence at 830 am. If they take the bus- they leave the house at 815 and walk to the bus stop for pickup at 830. I have to leave the house- no later than 8am. My only option seemed to be paying for a 'before school' program- costing me about 40 dollars a week- seems absurd to pay that just to buy some time. My husband says we should give them a key and/or the alarm code to let themselves out in the morning- I don't think they are old enough/responsible enough- and I fear something can happen to them- if anyone creepy knew they alone had access to the house with no parents in the morni...... - 2010-02-07

Generally we read about it in the papers or on-line and occasionally we hear about it second hand from other referees or league officials. Well today it happened to me during a mens match. I was refereeing two teams, one of the players was upset about a 50/50 foul call, I let play go and he complained. Later he kept complaining about it and I cautioned him for dissent. He continued and I told him, if you want a second caution keep it up, he said yeah I want another caution and I obliged him and showed him the second yellow followed by the red card and signalled for him to leave the field. Economic tensions between the north and south 3. Cultural differences between the north and south 4. The election of Abraham Lincoln 5. I know they are in a suburb of Paris but are they still considered to be a Paris team then Creteil has a pretty small support base (they average like 2,000 fans, which is poor even by French second divsion crowd standards, which average around 6,000). If a erson did a lot of drinking and or ingested large amounts of drugs and toxins in their youth,(say, from age 18-22)and if any damge was done to the liver, would the symptoms present themselves during that time or take a while to show? If the person had a two or three year period of no alcohol intake and general good health with no signs of illness could sympotoms pop up later? The only way to know for sure is to ask your doctor to do a liver enzyme test, liver function test. Signatures are required on many documents; what is the history of this requirement and where and when are signatures needed? References would be appreciated.Just a free comment: The signature (or "mark") signifies that the person involved agrees/approves/issues the document. I add "mark", since analphabets can also "sign" a document without being able to write their name, which these days has to be witnessed. In early medieval times, many - including rulers - could not write. A personal seal serves a similar purpose, less common in the West today, but in the Far East still not uncommon. Special mention to Simon Davies as well, he was terrible at the end of last season, but he's showing some nice stuff in preseason. This could be a big year for him. The equation of the tangent line to f(x) at x=27 can be written in the form y=mx+b, find a and b b) Using this, we find our approximation for 3sqrt27: I've been trying over and over to find the right answer but I can't... Someone help me please? :(1a). Vertical asymptotes happen the bottom is equal to 0 (as this will make the function some number over 0, which is infinity; an asymptote). ...... - 2010-02-07

» How Would I backup a DVD?

To start off, to reassure anyone that thinks the answer to this question will be used for illegal purposes, it is strictly for backing up and archiving DVD's. I wanted to use my computer's DVD burner/player to Rip movies (on DVD) and back them up. These movies are the type that have been playing in theaters, and have come out on DVD. I have just installed my DVD drive, and as far as I've been able to tell, these types of DVD's are heavily encrypted to stop people from reproducing them for illegal purposes. First, How would I backup a DVD on my computer? I searched around a little bit, and read up on encodings and file containers. I wanted to rip a dvd to my hard drive using DVD decrypter, and then use DVD shrink t...... - 2010-02-07

» How long will this double talk coming from Pakistan hold water?

They say that they too are victims of terrorism but their military and ISI are training the terrorists. Their soldiers and policeman refuse to tackle the problem head on and at times have surrendered unconditionally to the terrorists! They will not take action themselves and claim sovereignty of the land to refuse others to take action, when they are clearly not at all in control of many parts of Pakistan. Even if the terrorists are non-state actors, Pakistan cannot be absolved of their responsibilty to not let terrorism be exported from their land. It seems Pakistan now thinks that having nuclear weapons means they can do anything without any accountability to the world. What you suggested calls for a very very tenacious grit to be applied...... - 2010-02-07

» Isn't jeff hardy wearing face paint a bad move?

cause majority of his fans are girls who think he is hot, i doubt they still fall in love when hes looking like the joker, personally i like the facepaint but what about the girlsI can't stand his facepaint - looks to much like a wannabe. I've been a fan of Jeff's for years and though he's had his troubles, he's a great wrestler - but I'm just not feeling this. I actually find it really attractive. Art is one of the deepest forms of expression, and the fact that Jeff puts it on his body in a unique way, makes him even more attractive to me. But I'm usually attracted to weird guys, so it's not that shocking. That was actually considered to be a good move according to "big nose".It's sexy and my...... - 2010-02-07

» Why are the big 3 auto makers having to jump through hoops?

To get much less bailout money then what the banks got? The banks got 700 billion with no questions asked, and didn't the banks create this economic problem in the first place? So why are the auto makers being made to grovel?I'm ok with the groveling but I am totally with you on the rest of your point. We seem to be a little too lenient on the banks but come down a lot harder on the car companies. they shouldnt get any help from that buyout. They are a hug reason for the economic problems we have. If we bail them out they will NOT stop sending our jobs overseas, in fact they will use the money to fund the moves. The banks did not get that money, only a select few got anything so far as Paulson came on within days of...... - 2010-02-07

» Worth its wait in gold?

How can you tell if gold necklaces are high quality and where can you buy online high quality gold necklaces? The "quality" of gold is in its purity (24 carat is pure gold, 14 carat is 14/24 pure, etc.). All solid gold will be marked with the purity (ex. on the inside of a ring, or by the clasp of a necklace). 24K gold is not necessarily ideal, as the other metals are added to add strength. 14K is the minimum for fine jewely, and I prefer 18K for a blance of color and durability. Stay away from gold plated...that's junk. I wouldn't buy online unless it was from a large reputable dealer. There are too many scams with shorting on the WEIGHT of gold. I'd ask a jewelry specialist.don't buy any gold jewelry under 14K...... - 2010-02-07

» I am thinking about start using MOISTURIZER on my face .. ?

I don't have dry skin as of such.. Now since i'm hearing all about Moisturizers ... I'm considering starting using one.. Why are moisturizers so recommended and talked about ? And what noteable differences will i notice when i start using it ? AND .. IS MOISTURIZER IS A GOOD IDEA for someone with a blackhead/spot breakout ?Moisturizers are good for the same reasons drinking water is good for you. You have to keep your skin hydrated. That may be why you have have the black heads and breakouts. Your skin is over-compensating for the lack of moisture by producing more oil..even if you don't feel that oily. You will notice an overall improvement in your skins appearance-smoothness, firmness and breakouts.. Just fin...... - 2010-02-07
